Want to start reducing your waste but don’t know where to start? Or simply don’t have the time to do the research?

GreenCambridge is here for you!

Our Goals:

To make low waste lifestyles more accessible.

We offer easy tips and tricks for changing your waste habits, as well as specific recommendations for how to go about this in our city.

To unite people who want to reduce waste.

We believe that Cambridge is a brilliant place to start this sort of an idea: a city with a progressive attitude and a keenness to support small and local businesses. Many people want to make a change, and we want to get these people together!

To create a database of information.

Our ambition is that GreenCambridge can act as a database to further unite the numerous green movements across the city and wider county. It will act as a unifying platform that will allow easy access to information about everything our city is doing.

To always strive further.

Climate change is also about political change, and bigger changes need to take place at the top. We believe that if the people, the consumers, show a demand for a more environmentally friendly attitude, companies need to adapt to meet the changing markets. Alongside the small changes in our daily lives we want to push for bigger movements and actions, and we need your support!

About Me

Hi! I'm Sophie and I'm the founder of GreenCambridge, as well as being a final year languages student at Cambridge Uni. I decided to start this website as I was fed up of just sitting back and waiting for change to happen, I wanted to get involved! At first this stemmed from my own research into living a lower waste lifestyle, when I realised that information is very often spread out across the internet, and was not always specific enough to where I was living. I am proud of living in Cambridge and want to see us become one of the leaders of the fight against Climate Change.

I’d also like to add that I myself am by no means zero waste, I have been using the research for this website to slowly change my own habits and work on my own behaviours too! These massive changes don’t just happen overnight - they take lots of time! I don’t want this platform, nor the guides to come across as judgemental or accusative, trying to lower your waste is not encouraged by berating people who are making a good effort, nor attacking low-wasters for their slip-ups. This movement is about support and encouragement, and appreciating that for some people it is easier than for others. Let’s work together to reduce the waste produced in our city!
